Spells & Magic System

Frieren Spells features offensive magic, support magic, and civilian magic. Learn spells, develop your abilities, and unlock new ways to use offensive magic through research.

Offensive Magic

The following offensive spells are currently implemented.

Zoltraak

A powerful offensive spell used to attack enemies with magical projectiles.

Juddrazilm

An offensive spell based on lightning magic.

Reelseiden

An offensive spell based on cutting magic.

Support Magic

Support spells provide abilities beyond direct offensive attacks.

Defensive Magic

A defensive spell designed to protect the caster. Its activation behavior depends on the support-magic controls.

Flight Magic

Allows the caster to use magical flight.

Civilian Magic

Flower Field Magic

A civilian spell that creates a field of flowers.

Attack Patterns

Offensive magic can be used with different attack patterns. These patterns change how a spell is used in combat.

Attack patterns are unlocked through spell progression at the Research Table.

Currently planned or implemented attack pattern categories include:

• Single Shot — Fires a single attack.
• Multi Shot — Fires multiple attacks.
• Rapid Fire — Fires repeated attacks in quick succession.
• Homing — Allows attacks to track a target.
• Special Attack — A distinctive attack with its own behavior.

Available patterns and their effects may vary by spell and progression level.

Learning and Progression

1. Explore the world to find spellbooks and research materials.
2. Learn spells from the spellbooks you discover.
3. Use the Research Table to increase a spell’s level.
4. Unlock additional attack patterns through research.
5. Assign your learned spells through the dedicated GUI and use them in combat.

More spells and abilities may be added in future updates.
